I live in Chicago with my wife Anna, our daughter Emma, and two dogs Lizzie (a corgi) and HAL (a border/heeler mix).

I am a software developer and have been programming since I was eight years old. I consider myself very fortunate to do something for a living that I truly love. I mostly program in Java and Kotlin. I’m also an Executive Board Member, CFO, and occasional MC of the Chicago Java Users Group, so come say hello if you attend one of our meetups! I also help organize the Chicago Kotlin User Group.

I enjoy reading, used book stores, walking/hiking, coffee, Formula 1, woodworking, programming, and travel.

Public Speaking

In 2018 I started to focus on public speaking and found that I really enjoy it! I’ve been fortunate enough to have been invited to several conferences and user groups to speak, mostly about Kotlin so far:

I work at Netspend/TSYS where I am responsible for experiments, prototypes, and proofs of concept. Netspend is a payments company that issues and services prepaid Visa and MasterCard debit cards. I work remotely from Chicago on back-end systems in Java and Kotlin. You can check out details of my professional career on LinkedIn
